Monet had a very strong influence on the California painters who spent time with him at Giverny. Look at one of Monet's paintings of the Rouen Cathedral.
Notice the similarity to Monet's painting style and technique in this painting by Alson Skinner Clark, entitled Thousand Island. After Clark studied with Monet in Giverny, he dramatically altered his style. Previously his paintings appeared more tonalist in nature, like his painting Sunset Normandy.

Guy Rose actually lived in Giverny for some time as Monets' neighbor. The influence of Monet is undeniable in Guy Roses' painting, Mist Over Point Lobos. |

Anna Althea Hills also studied with Monet in Giverny. The method in which she has handled the reflection in the pond water in this painting,Old Ranch, is typical of French Impressionism. You can see this demonstrated in Monet's painting The Boat Studio. |
