Anatoli Nasedkin was born in Charkov in 1924. He served with distinction in World War II and received Patriotic War Orders and numerous medals for his war efforts. Upon demobilization in 1945, Nasedkin entered the Charkov Institute of Art, graduating in 19543. He served as a professor at the Institute until his retirement in 1994. Nasedkin achieved membership in the Russian Artist Union and earned the title, Honored Artist of the U.S>S>R. He participated in exhibitions in Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, East Berlin, and Charkov, as well as many other Russian cities. While his works may be found in major museums in Moscow and Leningrad, museums in Kiev and Charkov have the most significant number of Nasedkin paintings i their permanent collections. Nasedkin excelled within a wide range of styles and subjects. Noted primarily for his Socialist Realism, Nasedkin was also an accomplished portrait painter. In addition, his impressionistic interpretations of Ukranians and their lifestyles made him popular with collectors from throughout the world. -- particularly those in France and the United States. Nasedkin died in his native Charkov in 1996.
