This exhibit presents more than 70 major works by some of the highest-acclaimed Russian Impressionists of this period. Arguably the most important art discovery of the 1990s, Russian Impressionism expresses itself broadly with a simple clarity of pictorial language, consummate adeptness and truthful portrayal of life. It lifts the veil from a country once held hostage by its government to reveal the portraits, pastoral vistas and industrial scenes painted with honesty by artists who believed they were portraying the utopia that Communism would bring.

In 1994, Fleischer Museum presented the first major exhibition of Russian Impressionism, Hidden Treasures: Russian and Soviet Impressionism 1930-1970s. The response was overwhelming. This new exhibit fulfills thousands of visitors' requests to see more of this extraordinary body of work. In addition to the permanent collections of Fleischer Museum and Overland Gallery, Scottsdale, more than 20 private collectors loaned their paintings to make this exhibit possible.
